This was one of our favorite vacations, and I have a lot to share to help make your stay here amazing. You will fly into Provo, Milena will arrange transportation for you to get picked up. We were picked up by Mr. Charlie at the airport. He charges $25 per person for first 2 people, and $10 for each after that. He's not Mr. Personality, but he took us to a nice grocery (the cost averages about 3 times what you'll pay in the US, so bring as much from home as possible, including meat. We had a carry on cooler that we filled with frozen meat, and already had a menu planned and most of our groceries were packed in our checked bags.) Mr. Charlie then took us to the Ferry, it runs one in the morning, and at 2pm and 5pm in the afternoon. It's about a 40 minute ferry ride to the North island where Ernest the property care -taker will pick you up and take you for another 40 minute ride to the property. It sounds like a lot of work, but I considered my vacation and the adventure beginning as we got off the plane. The townhouse we stayed in was very nice. Bedrooms downstairs, living and kitchen upstairs so that you can enjoy the view and get good air flow if you choose to open windows. However, if you open windows there's a good chance that "No see-ums" will get in and they will bite you relentlessly! We were advised from one of the locals to rub baby oil on exposed skin, and they won't bite us, but it was too late for us by the time we heard this. So take your baby oil just in case. There are few people in the region, our neighbor behind us Dave Shaw stopped by the first day, very friendly, we saw him most days we were there. He has 2 boats and offers days on the water with his captain Manny. We did a half day and had an absolutely amazing day. We came home with 4 lobster, 4 different varieties of fish (one that we caught) and 4 beautiful conch. If you're interested in a memorable great day call Dave at 649-344-6470 when you get there. EVERYONE on this island is so nice and personable. We met Mel and Susan, near them is a nice little reef to snorkel, just a little walk down the beach, Karen and Gerald - she was so informative about the area, Greg, the kite skier. We rented a car from Nick car rental, they brought it to us, $75 a day, and picked up, very convenient. This is a place with no resorts, just natural beauty. We had an amazing time. We think it'd be nice to have some palapa's on the beach for some shade, but it was really great.
