We wanted a place for the Thanksgiving Holiday in order to spend the time with our kids. We needed a place close to Dallas as our daughter was performing in the band for Texas Tech University for the Football game & we wanted a place to stay that 3 of our other kids at Texas Tech did not need to drive for long hrs for the short break. We looked for a place we would have an easy drive from the Houston area with our other kids. We hoped for a place fully stocked with supplies & room to cook a real Thanksgiving meal, a place to Hike/explore, to skeet shoot, to enjoy a campfire, to see the stars, to listen to & enjoy farm life (without having to do the work :) ), to play games, to laugh, to fish, & just to be somewhere that our teenagers, College kids (male & female) & ourselves could enjoy for a few days away from work & school. THIS IS & WAS THE RIGHT PLACE!!! Only issues we had was learning the dishwasher door (must have a broken spring?) opens hard & all the way down if you were not careful, tackle box had no tools to fix/repair a fishing line that broke & another fishing rod's reel that was tangled inside it (we did want to fix it-sorry), the Internet (as it is satellite & we were told it was spotty) was a no go - we have college kids that did need to take some time to study for finals so that was not great, the microwave worked just fine but from time to time not sure why it just would be finicky to start, & the hot/cold was switched on a shower. So those were the ONLY issues. Which over the 5 days of OUTSTANDING outings, laughter, exploration, enjoyment, relaxation & fun is nothing at all to gripe about! The Ranch is truly loved - the horses, cows & the kitties are all well taken cared for & we loved being around them all. The Ranch dogs were awesome, Stuart was our savior at one point with a pesky bull (not in any danger-just think he did not like me lol) & the other 2 kept our dog entertained (Thx to Chuy & Daly). Jackrabbits, squirrels, birds of all kinds (owls, turkey, woodpeckers just a couple to name). We caught crickets to fish with, skipped rocks across the water, hiked to the old cemetery, found a bone yard, & enjoyed smores around a campfire. Allowing us to skeet shoot was a highlight for our kids in the pasture! We have one of our TTU students that is joining the team & wanted practice, again THANK YOU (hope we cleaned the area up well!)! Beautiful all of it! This THANKSGIVING we were truly BLESSED!! THANK YOU!
