We have always wanted to stay in one of these beach houses, and we had so much fun. The beach is a short walk from the house, and you can clearly see the ocean from both floors of the two story deck. There’s a grill and picnic table on the deck with some nice patio couches and Adirondack chairs.
The house is perfectly suited for multiple families with kiddos. There is a main floor master and another bedroom with an en suite plus three bedrooms with bunk beds upstairs. It was nice to have a washer and dryer, and there were plenty of dishes, cooking utensils, towels, extra pillows, etc.
A couple tips:
- Grocery shopping is expensive on the island, so we stopped closer to Mobile on our way.
- It’s a good idea to bring extra toilet paper, paper towels, ziploc bags, and trash bags. We used more than was there, but we had ten people in our group.
- We also brought some dish tabs and tide pods so we could run the dishwasher and do laundry.
- Expect to be active if you stay here. Lots of stairs and walking the dunes to get to the beach. Dragging our beach wagon was a pain, and I was wishing we’d brought our bag cooler.
The owner was super helpful and communicative, which is always appreciated. The island is beautiful and there are several parks and historic sites a short drive away. We will definitely stay here again if we come back to Dauphin Island.
