“Little National was modern and clean. Computerised check in was easy but it would have been nice to have it attended by a concierge to provide some sort of welcome. Although the bed was comfortable it did have a big body depression on the open bed side. I’m not entirely convinced that the positioning of the bed is convenient for more than one person. “This is what you expect of an Ibis property, clean, compact and perfectly suited to my needs for an overnight stay. The staff were extremely responsive, when there was a problem with the first room they sent me to, the problem was rectified immediately and they added some complimentary wine and parking. There is transport into the centre of Newcastle if needed, though its not far to walk to Pubs, Clubs and shopping centres. ”

“The Grand is a great pub. Some of the rooms are excellent with old-world charm, and veranda access on the first floor. The bar is excellent. My room this time (I’ve stayed several times) was small, no veranda and tiny windows opening onto a brick wall, down pipes and droning pigeons. ”
