Overall, we enjoyed our stay. The igloos offer a great way to view the aurora without freezing outside for hours. The bed & pillows were comfortable. The unit was clean. Aurora viewing was great. We had a few nights when they were visible & 1 night where they were excellent. The staff was friendly and helpful. Wifi was good. Lounge area nice.
On the downside, there are a few things I'd recommend: lower dining room prices. Better breakfast based on the price of the unit. There was no place to unpack our clothes. A small dresser or shelved closet would be nice and helpful. We had a fridge, but it was not in the kitchenette area. It was on the other side of the room even though there is space for it under the kitchen counter. There was on chair and no place to sit for a game of cards or similar. They provided an electric kettle & tea/instant coffee, but the cups were tiny (maybe 4 oz) and awkward to handle. There's a sink in the kitchenette, but no dish soap or towel or anything to wash your items with.
These are somewhat picky things, but at the same time we are paying a significant price for these units to find they not well equipped.
Borealis Basecamp is not close to any dining and only a few local activities. If you're eating in the dining room, the prices seemed high to us. If not in the dining room, then it's about 40 minutes to Fairbanks.
We visited when there was no snow, so snowmobiling, dog sledding, etc. were not an option.
I'd recommend with these few cavaets.
