Close to shops
Nice location, close to train station and shops. Staff were very good about changing our room when we complained about a noise that seemed to be coming from the ceiling. Breakfast good, but no names on the juices. Staff in restaurant friendly and efficient

It is a conveniently placed hotel .
We arrived early at the hotel and they were able to let us deposit our luggage in our room and freshen up well bfore the official time that was advertised. We had breakfast served in our room on our day of departure and found that they had not read our order for one continental breakfast and one English breakfast. correctly and we received only the English breakfast. After two attempts they finally delivered the second breakfast.

Nice area
Only stayed in this hotel for one night, it was a last minute booking so wasnt too sure what to expect. The main part of the hotel looks very nice and posh, however when we went to our room it was a bit dated and drab. The room was spacious however my main problem wasnt that the bathroom didnt look like it had been cleaned. The area where the hotel is situated made it worthwhile however I wouldn't stay here for more than 1 night and not so sure I'd visit again.

Ett "fyrstjärnigt" hotell av äldre datum med enkla hotellrum där säng och bäddmadrass i mitt rum var åldrat - men det fungerade för min del. Knarrrande ojämna golv och ordentligt lyhört. Med boende på första våningen ovan reception och samvarodelar erbjöd detta ett irritationsmoment, då högtalare var placerade i dessa delars tak - dvs rummets golv(!). Hissmusiken som spelades dagar och in på småtimmarna sipprade i valda delar över till rummet. Under helgerna stora bröllopssällskap - lyhört från festandet. Men är man inte känslig för detta så pk. Mycket dyr engelsk frukost - continental för halva priset mer prisvärd. Generellt gäller att full engelsk frukost kan fås på närliggande restauranger för halva priset. Mot bakgrund av pris/natt för dubbelrum utan frukost ändå ett prisvärt alternativ som kan rekommenderas - men snarare "trestjärnigt" hotell.

Trevligt hotell nära tågstation och centrala Harpenden. Vi var positivt överraskade av detta prisvärda hotell som inte kostade så mycket, men låg i ett bra läge och erbjöd god service. Saknade däremot luftkonditionering/AC i dubbelrummet. God frukost!

Comfy room, nice area, too near railway station
Room was clean and comfortable but very dark - had to have lights on all the time. We were in annex and very near to busy railway station making it quite noisy. On return to room each night we found the key card did not work and we had to return to reception in main building to get card re-activated which was irritating. Easy walking into Harpenden which is a very pleasant market town and just a short journey to St. Albans.

Nice hotel but too few staff on duty at times. Thought we were well back from the road but that put us by the railway line. And for Expedia's information, there are two 'l's in 'traveller' in English parlance.

18th Cent. house on the edge of charming town
Harpenden is a bedroom community for London and has wonderful homes, an array of shops, and the feel of earlier times. The Harpenden House is a facility for special occasions and the restaurant is excellent! I am gluten free and mentioned this at breakfast and they provided splendid options for me without asking. I was there for a conference nearby so did not get to shop, but found my stroll around town pleasant and the people friendly.

A short walk from all amenities
Ideal location for our needs. Shops, restaurants and station just minutes away. Room very clean and well serviced. Running cold water tap that was not fixed despite being reported to reception.

Great service
Staff were all very friendly, and extremely helpful. I was a guest at a wedding held there. 7 of us dined in the restaurant, the night before. We were quite late entering the restaurant, but the staff were very obliging, and did not try to hurry us. The meal itself was fantastic, on that we all agreed. The hotel is only a 5 minute walk from numerous, restaurants, bars, and shops. Would definitely stay at Harpenden House again, if I was in the area.

Great value and comfort
Overall, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and cleanliness of my room. However, for a hotel that advertises it self as 'business friendly', I was really disappointed by the weakness of the Wifi signal and was unable to do the work I'd brought with me as even the weak signal was intermittent. There was nowhere local to buy a cable so future guests need to make sure they have one. Breakfast is adequate and expensive and service at check-out was very poor - one member of staff was left on her own. I waited over twenty minutes only to be handled a bill which was incorrect. The error was dealt with politely but I was surprised that a manager walked by the long queue without calling for someone else to help.

Great Location but Dirty Bathroom
The service was very friendly at the Harpenden House Hotel and for the most part the room was comfortable. The bathroom however was not as clean as it should have been with dust, dirt and hair on the floor and in the toilet.

Comfortable and friendly
We have stayed here a couple of times now and enjoyed both visits. The hotel is very attractive and comfortable. The staff are friendly and helpful.

Very satisfied
Was shopping for a hotel on the internet and liked what I saw about this hotel. It was filling up quickly (which said a lot about its popularity) so i booked straight away and was not disappointed.

Booked a double and got given a single. No soap in bathroom and had to wait 20 mins for some to be brought. Tired hotel, lacks competition in the area and so standards have slipped
