Surrounded by native grass trees and minutes from the Millbrook Winery, Ballakup House is the perfect escape if you’re seeking peace, privacy and connection with nature…or you have a wedding to get to!
Only 45 minutes from Perth city, our home features distinctive architecture that blends harmoniously with the outdoors, creating a space that is modern and inviting. Large windows frame the picturesque surroundings, while a spacious light-filled living space, wood burning fire and outdoor deck make it easy to unwind, entertain and enjoy the tranquillity.
Ballakup House is perfectly positioned for nature lovers, where the backyard is literally the state forest and there is just under an acre of natural bushland to explore. Hit the trails by peddling onto the Munda Biddi mountain bike track which, runs behind the property. Or relax with a glass of wine while planning to go tomorrow!!
While staying at Ballakup House, you're ideally situated to explore the charming town of Jarrahdale. Take a hike through the stunning Kitty's Gorge or visit Serpentine Falls for a refreshing dip. Cyclist will love the trails at Langford Park, while foodies can enjoy a relaxing lunch and local wines at Millbrook Winery. Jarrahdale General Store & Café – 2-minute drive or 10-minute walk (500 m) - A cosy café offering hearty meals, fresh coffee, and homemade treats. It’s also a handy spot to grab basic grocery items.
Jarrahdale Tavern – 3-minute drive (1.5 km) - A classic country pub with a friendly atmosphere, serving up pub favourites like burgers, steaks, and a good selection of drinks. We give the fish and chips five stars.
Jarrahdale Local PO Kitchen - 2-minute drive or a 10-minute walk - Set in the historic old Jarrahdale post office building, it offers delicious homemade meals, coffee, and desserts in a relaxed, rustic setting.
Bistro by the Dam - 15-minute drive. The bistro offers a relaxed atmosphere with beautiful views of the dam and surrounding forest. Getting to Jarrahdale:
By Car:
From Perth: Drive south on the Kwinana Freeway. The drive takes between 45 mins to an hour depending on the time of day/traffic.
Train & Bus:
Train: Take the Armadale Line from Perth to Armadale Station.
Bus: From Armadale, catch the 254 bus towards Byford or Serpentine.
Note: There are no direct buses from these stations to Jarrahdale, so you’ll need a taxi or rideshare like Uber for the final leg.
For the most convenience, driving is the best option, but public transport combined with a short taxi ride can get you there too!
