“Everything was OK, except for the coffee they use (Folgers) It was almosty undrinkable;bitter and harsh.”

“The continental breakfast was good - a variety of fresh baked goods, yogurts, fresh fruits, granola, teas, and the coffee was excellent! It would have been nice to enjoy a hot breakfast on the cold and gloomy morning that we were there, though. We enjoyed meeting our friendly host, Joe, and had a nice conversation with him as he explained the history of the property and some future kitchen renovations he has in the works. Parking was no problem - plenty of space, well-lit, felt absloutely...

“Super clean, staff very nice, cabins had kitchens and fireplace that were very nice, but the coffee maker did not work. Nice you could spend just one night but really once there you are going to want to spend at least two. No amenities like pool or gym but they did have the worlds smallest sheep. :) It would be nice if they had a couple of cabins with a jacuzzi tub for after a long drive. It was hard to get to but i think our GPS messed up and took us onto lots of gravel roads to get there so...

“The breakfast buffet was very good with great variety. I also liked pots of hot coffee in the lobby available all day. The only thing I didn’t like was the lack of soundproofing between rooms. Perhaps it was because my room could be an adjoining room, but we could hear everything next door. Our neighbor called to complain about our tv volume, so I guess they could hear everything also.”

“I am disgusted by the behavior of the general manager who hung up the phone on me. I paid for my room in FULL for 2 nights but when I arrived the next day (flight was delayed) I was told I couldn’t check in because they had cancelled my room (kept my money) and sold my room to another guest So that means they got to benefit TWICE from one room Cancelled my room and left me stranded with nowhere to stay And when asked for my money back on the phone with manager, she hung up the phone on me...

“Needed to stay for two weeks. Had to ask for cleaning, which consisted of fresh (thin) towels and the bed being made, though we aren’t sure they changed the sheets. Did not automatically give us TOlP or new cups. Other cleaning seemed non-existent. Almost no amenities. Communication was poor and key cards had to regularly be reprogrammed. I’ve stayed at many hotels of different levels all over the world. I would not choose this one again or recommend it.”

“Didn't like the Wooden floors, the stained tubs, or the Guatemalan and Mexican workers hanging out in the back parking lot smoking and drinking.”

“Loved the Black Walnut Inn. I would love to go back. The rooms are lovely. Breakfast is delicious. A very generous spread. Self-serve tea and coffee is available at all times in the dining room area. There are also treats one can help oneself too. Chocolate chip cookies our first day and molasses cookies the second. Meghan bakes the best cookies. Seriously, the best. The owners are very warm. If we visit Amherst again, staying here would be our first choice. Thank you.”

“We arrived and the hotel had no running water : no working bathroom no showers that worked . They had not had water for 2 days and could not say when it would be turned on again . No one called to notify us or offer a solution upon check in .”
