An entire house with courtyard, opening onto a rural area, at the foot of the vines.
In Tournus, in the south of Burgundy, on the side of a hill planted with vines, in the heart of nature, this winemaker's house called "La Cadole" offers a space of tranquility. It is a small, very old building, originally a sheepfold and a vat room for winemaking, on the edge of a rural road, away from built-up areas. It has been renovated and modernized while preserving its historical appearance. Its stone walls and mullioned windows guarantee you coolness in the middle of summer. The windows, which open onto the vines to the east and onto the valley towards Cluny and Brancion to the west, offer an exceptional panorama.
- On the ground floor there is a large living room (27 m2) with a very old stone fireplace and a stove, both usable in cool weather (wood provided), a table, chairs, a bench that can be transformed into a bed, armchairs.
In the next room we enjoy a kitchen (8m2) equipped (fridge, freezer, cupboards, induction hob, dishwasher, sink, table and chairs). and a bathroom (2.7m2) with shower, sink, toilet. ATTENTION: the ceiling is supported by a beam at 1.80 m and the exit door is very low.
- Upstairs, accessible only by an external stone staircase (not recommended for people with reduced mobility), there is a 16m2 bedroom with a large bed (140 cm), a bench, a wardrobe, a table and chairs.
- In front: a gravelled courtyard with garden seats, deckchair, parasol and barbecue. These items are stored in a closed shed where you can shelter bicycles.
Southern Burgundy is full of resources:
• The masterpieces of medieval architecture (Tournus, Brancion, Cluny and around twenty remarkable Romanesque rural churches)
• The Saône and its tributaries are 3 km away and offer walks, sailing or even fishing for enthusiasts. Many bike rides are possible, in particular by taking the "Voie verte" or the "Voie Bleue" along the Saône. The villages, valleys and forests offer an authentic setting.
• Tournus is at the heart of the Southern Burgundy wine region, halfway between Mâconnais and Côte de Beaune. You can visit the cellars of individuals and cooperatives and taste. You will also find excellent restaurants, including several Michelin-starred, in Tournus and the surrounding area. The Tournus Tourist Office (near the Abbey) is welcoming and very well-documented.
